Teijin Frontier actively oversees every aspect of its value chain from the procurement of materials through the processing, production and sale of goods. Our strength as both a trading company and a manufacturer enable us to provide optimal solutions that fulfill customer needs at all business stages, both upstream and downstream.

As a manufacturer, we develop advanced materials that provide maximal functionality and products that contribute to solving social issues. We also manufacture our own advanced materials using the advanced technologies at our main manufacturing plant and ensure a highly reliable supply structure by providing technical guidance to our affiliated factories.

Our trading company function gives us the ability to identify underlying customer needs in a wide range of markets and swiftly propose products that meet those needs. We also provide solutions with value to our customers through flexible procurement from inside and outside our Group, our extensive OEM network providing local manufacturing around the globe, and our advanced logistics systems.

Manufacturing that creates new products and businesses

Based on our ability to cultivate technologies through our research facilities and at our factories, we are developing materials and products that are competitive in the market. This development is being conducted on a global scale, with R&D centers in Japan, China and Thailand. With support from our own internal production plants, and those at Group companies, we are focusing on researching and developing unique and superior new materials and technologies.
To respond to recent and rapid technological advancement, we are working to establish technological collaboration with universities, government offices and private companies. Through these efforts, we are accelerating research and development and creating new products and businesses.

Promoting R&D resulting in original materials

As a fundamental development base and R&D center, our Matsuyama Office is involved in developments ranging from new polymers to cutting-edge fiber forming technologies, with a focus on the polyester fiber production technologies we have cultivated over many years. We are also developing original materials with substantial competitive power. Teijin Frontier maintains manufacturing and processing facilities that handle a variety of components and products, including nonwoven fabric products such as filters and fibrous structures, and rubber reinforcing materials, as well as equipment used for related measurement and evaluation. With these resources, we are researching and developing products with new characteristics that are in demand in a variety of fields, including fiber.

Comprehensive development process that covers product development, trial production and product evaluation

Teijin Product Development China Co., Ltd., our R&D center in China, is responsible for a variety of development related to “textiles & apparel”, “industrial textiles and materials” and other products, as well as evaluation technology. At the same time, it focuses on developing original industrial textile and material products while applying technology and expertise it cultivated through research and development related to apparel textiles.

An R&D center creates new functionality

Our Thai Innovation Laboratory, which is located within the Thailand Science Park, is our R&D center for the Southeast Asian region. It is responsible for developing spinning technologies primarily utilized to create polymers used in polyester fibers, functional processing technology and environmentally friendly fibers. As an additional responsibility, it also focuses on training human resources who will contribute to research and development.
